Every week we do our best to study and teach apologetics at our church. We planted our church on this foundation for a couple of reasons. First, we became convinced that young people were far too likely to walk away from their faith in their 20's simply because they were not prepared to know and defend the truth. The statistics are appalling. We really felt that the CHURCH was the best place to become a warrior for the faith, and we really wanted to be that kind of place; a place where Christians could truly learn and embrace the fact that the Christian Worldveiw is the only rational and coherent view of the world. In addition to this, we observed over time that Christians had come to see their faith as something that may be true for them, but not necessarily true for everyone else. Relativism has definitely slipped into the institutional church, and we started to recognize the fact that when people don't believe that something is objectively true for EVERYONE, it seems rather pointless to try to share or convince people that what you believe to be true is actually... TRUE. Relativism, has robbed the Church of its sense of urgency. People seemed hesitant to serve and reach the community. We wnated to change all that. We wanted a church that existed to serve and reach the world around us.
So we planted a church that is founded on TRUTH. Every week we teach through all the topics of objective truth that are distinctives of Christianity. We talk about the reliability of the Bible, the Deity of Jesus, the evidence for the existence of God, the error of false theologies and the difficult cultural issues that surround us. We are a small group, because in the expensive climate of South Orange county, we are determined to meet without paid staff and without a monthly cost for facilities.
So we started to dream about how we could reach more than the group that we see each week. Was there a way to reach out beyond the four walls where we meet? Yes! That's why we started the PleaseConvinceMe.com ministry and outreach. Each week, we simply post the messages and topics that we discuss in our weekly meetings. We take great pains to research what we tak about. And we hope that our webpages are the very best pages on the web related to each topic that we discuss. Maybe that's a bit bold, but that is our hope.
Now we are getting ready to do something more. We typically meet on Saturday nights as a church, so we are hoping to reach out to local churches and bring our approach to apologetics and worldview training to as many people in our area as are interested in growing and defending the faith. Please be praying for us as we get ready to take PleaseConvinceMe.com to the local community, offering speaker services to local churches...
